PLUS PEDAL

Armed with two hand-built PLUS Pedal units, a YouTube video, and a crude WordPress website, the guys buy plane tickets to LA, in order to “crash” the 2017 Winter NAMM show

Latvian brass manufacturer Vairis Nartiss was extremely generous to let the guys exhibit in the corner of Booth B 2008, where the PLUS Pedal is finally unveiled among the sound of screeching saxophones and trumpets.

Despite having minimal visibility at the show, zero media contacts and no industry experience, the PLUS Pedal quickly finds its way into the NAMM spotlight. MusicRadar and Anderton's TV are among the first to recognize the PLUS Pedal's potential.

A huge wave of PLUS Pedal pre-orders starts rolling in, including multiple world-famous musicians, who are still part of the GCA family to this day.

The guys are beginning to realize that this thing is about to get serious.

Upon arrival back to Riga, the guys leave their jobs and begin working on the PLUS Pedal full time.

Martins begins re-writing the Firmware, Kristaps is sourcing mechanical parts and making revisions to the PCBs in order to bring them into mass manufacturing. Meanwhile, Ilja and Didzis are renovating an old, abandoned garage which would soon become GCA’s first proper “Office” - AKA - the Red House.

As pre-orders keep coming in, Niks and Matīss join the team to help with customer support and marketing. Martins' younger brother “KM“ helps Kristaps with setting up the manufacturing, storage and logistics infrastructure.

A crucial partnership is signed with Martins' former employer - the “Hansa Matrix” electronics manufacturing plant in Riga, Latvia. By July 2017 the PLUS Pedal's final firmware is completed and the first batch of PLUS Pedals is ready for assembly.

HOW IT'S MADE - THE BRASS PEDAL

Ilja and Kristaps bring Sergey on board - a local craftsman who was responsible for hand-crafting thousands of the famous PLUS brass Pedals throughout 2017 & 2018.

August, 2017

First PLUS Pedal ever shipped.

In our minds - this is the day when Gamechanger Audio officially became a manufacturer.

To this day we are deeply grateful to those hundreds of PLUS Pedal pre-order customers who trusted us and supported the PLUS Pedal idea by placing their pre-order and waiting patiently for us to get our first manufacturing line sorted out.

This and multiple other crowdfunding campaigns is what has allowed Gamechanger Audio to keep innovating over the years while always staying completely independent - that means keeping full control of the business without bringing in investors or taking out large loans

Summer of 2017

The guys head over to the US to do Summer NAMM and look for inspiration for their follow-up product.

The trip also included a tour of Third Man Records in Nashville, post-show meetings with members of PJ Harvey's and Roger Waters' bands, as well as visits to the Earthquaker Devices HQ in Akron, Ohio and numerous studios.

On the front porch of a Bluegrass recording studio in Buckhorn, Kentucky the guys come across a truly American artifact - The Bug Zapper. Many drinks later - a new idea is born.
