Will it fit in a skiff case?
The PLASMA DRIVE module is a bit shy of 50 mm / 1.96″ in depth. It will fit in most cases, but please check the exact depth of your case before purchasing the module.
How is it different from the pedal?
PLASMA Drive audio signal is operating at eurorack standard level. More to that, the PLASMA DRIVE has an octave up and down tracking oscillators which is similar to the PLASMA COIL.
Aren't plasma globes known for causing pretty dire RF interference? Any chance this will cause bleeding in adjacent modules?
The PLASMA DRIVE doesn’t cause any RF interference. The PLASMA DRIVE module has been tested in a certified laboratory and passed Electro-magnetic compatibility tests. Sensitive devices e.g. guitar pickups can pick up noise in very, very close proximity.
Is the sound actually going through the plasma or is just blinking from the input signal?
It is the actual discharge path for the high voltage signal! These discharges have unusual spectrum and they are responsible for that electric crackling sound.
