By using a High voltage step-up flyback transformer, PLASMA RACK turns your instrument’s signal into a rapid series of electric discharges in a Xenon-filled tube. These powerful discharges (up to 5500 Volts) then get picked up by a specially designed electromagnetic receiver and turned back into audio-level signal. This process results in a large amount of punishingly heavy distortion, and also saturates the sound with a wide range of harmonics and overtones.
In essence – you are playing a bolt of electricity, and the electrical discharges produced by your instrument are instantly converted back into an analog audio signal, producing a quick, responsive, and extremely heavy distortion with TONS of unique character!
The harmonic artefacts, created as a byproduct of the high-voltage discharge are uncommon in traditional signal amplification, and therefore PLASMA distortion is unlike anything you have heard before.
The way PLASMA Rack reacts with different instruments and sound sources simply cannot be recreated with any other analog machine, plugin or by digital sound modeling.
“The PLASMA Rack by Gamechanger Audio is one of the most unique effects racks I have come across. I love the gritty textures the plasma tube brings to my synth sounds and drum loops. And essential piece of kit to anyone looking for something truly unique and different!"
“The PLASMA Rack takes the PLASMA Pedal to a whole new level! The extra EQ control, the pad on the input and the trem/ring mod feature will take whatever thoughts you had about distortion and manipulation to a higher level This thing can mangle sound like nobody's business!"
“While it's $1,499 price tag may place the Gamechanger Audio PLASMA Rack beyond the reach of many, I can vouch that it's well worth the cost - it is the most unique distortion I've heard in 25 years. It is a blast to play with and sounds amazingly good. Regardless of the sound source, it is musical and quite usable. So many of the distortion plug-ins today sound good on their own, but are difficult to place in a mix - the Gamechanger Audio PLASMA Rack is not that way at all!"
