MOTOR SYNTH MKII

The world's first electro-mechanical desktop synthesizer

Available now. Limited quantity.

Available directly from GCA, Worldwide Express Shipping

MOTOR Synth is based on a unique motor oscillator engine.

It is a system of eight electro-motors that are able to instantly and precisely change their rotation speed in order to produce musical notes.

The peculiar method of sound creation used in MOTOR Synth makes it sound like nothing else. However the proprietary motor control system created by our engineers makes it possible to tweak timbres equal to classic synths and even real instruments.

MOTOR SYNTH MKII OVERVIEW

To celebrate the arrival of the MOTOR Synth MKII, we released an epic synthesizer space journey video, created by the MOTOR Synth's designer Fricis Kalvelis, and featuring an exquisite all-MOTOR Synth composition "SEE YOU SOON MY STARDUST FRIEND" by Martins Melkis - Gamechanger Audio's lead development engineer and one of the creators of the MOTOR Synth.

All of the sounds in "SEE YOU SOON MY STARDUST FRIEND" are made with MOTOR SYNTH:

FEATURES

The MOTOR SYNTH MKII has two separate voices with three types of optical waveshapes (sine, saw, square), an electromagnetic inductive wave (M), and adjustable four-note poliphony.

Each voice has independent controls for volume, scale, waveform, amp envelope and pitch envelope. multi-mode analog amp envelopes (ADSR, AD, AR, DADSR, ADSHR) with adjustable CURVE parameters.

The MOTORS make it possible to use innovative pitch envelope system with detailed controls for ACCELERATION & BRAKE functions.

HOW IT WORKS

This is one of the Synth's eight motor oscillators.

It can produce four distinct waveforms - the optical disc creates sine, saw and square waves through reading wave reflections via infra-red sensors while the electromagnetic pickups at each motor's base produce the inductive "M" waveform.

The sine, saw and square waveforms are produced by a set of specially designed optical discs that are mounted to each motor’s shaft. Each motor disc has three “tracks” engraved onto its reflective surface - designed as circular optical representations of the sine, saw and square waveforms.

Each reflective “track” is paired with a separate infra-red laser and sensor that picks up the reflected beam. As the disc rotates and brings the differently shaded areas in circular motion, the infra-red reflectivity sensor begins outputting a so-called “Optical Waveform” - technology that we developed specifically for the MOTOR Synth.

The "M" waveform is produced by a set of electromagnetic pickups that are placed next to each motor’s rotating inner coils. These create electromagnetic fluctuations that can be amplified to produce a unique motor waveform.

Because of the distinct way the motors create wave shapes, MOTOR Synth's sound is certainly in a category of its own. However, the comprehensive sound-shaping features developed by our engineers let you recreate classic synth sounds and even real instruments.
