INPUT GATE

The INPUT GATE menu offers more additional processing options that use INPUT signal.
There are two engines that can be configured using this mode - GATE / SIDECHAIN and TRIGGER.

GATE/SIDECHAIN:
Use the RIGHT SCREEN ENCODER to make the following adjustments:

MODE -  switches between OFF/GATE/SIDECHAIN modes:
  • GATE - dynamic effect that gates all of Motor Synth sound using the INPUT signal RMS value. The Master Output amplitude will be modulated by the INPUT signal’s rms value. If no signal is passed to the IN jack, there will be no Output Signal.
  • SIDECHAIN - is a classic SIDECHAINING compressor effect that reduces the Master Output Signal level in proportion to the INPUT Signal.

FOLLOW -
  • ENV - Output Volume is modulated (GATED or SIDECHAINED) in proportion to the Amplitude of the INPUT SIGNAL.
In this mode, the rising and/or falling slope can be reduced by adjusting the ATTACK and/or RELEASE parameters respectively.
  • ONSET - Output Volume is modulated by an AR Envelope which is triggered by INPUT onsets (Trigger, Audio signal). You can manually adjust the AR envelope with the ATTACK and RELEASE parameters in the SCREEN.

THRES dB - minimal level of INPUT SIGNAL that engages the GATE / SIDECHAIN Engine.
GAIN - amplifies the INPUT signal if it exceeds the THRES dB.
ATTACK - attack time in seconds for the MOD ENVELOPE generator.
RELEASE - release time in seconds for the MOD ENVELOPE generator.
FC - center frequency of the INPUT Signal conditioning filter
BW - bandwidth of the INPUT Signal conditioning filter

Use the LEFT SCREEN ENCODER to adjust VOICE Settings for the GATE / SIDECHAIN Engine:
V1 ON/OFF, V2 ON/OFF, DCO ON/OFF enables or disables GATE/SIDECHAIN effect for Motor Synth’s voices separately.

TRIGGER:
The TRIGGER engine is a special clock sync mode for the MOTOR Synth's ARP and/or SEQUENCER engines.
It analyzes the INPUT signal using an onset detection algorithm to generate advancing triggers for the ARP and/or SEQ Engines.

ARP ON/OFF - enables/disables onset trigger for ARP
SEQ ON/OFF - enables/disables onset trigger for ARP

When enabled, next NOTE or STEP will advance only when an onset is detected in the input signal. In this mode the ARP and/or SEQUENCER clocks are not synced to either INTERNAL or EXTERNAL clock sources.

Notes
  • GATE/SIDECHAIN and TRIGGER engines are independent and can be enabled simultaneously, but the INPUT signal conditioning parameters such as THRES dB, GAIN dB, FC, BW are shared.
